Fly

A limited-edition exhibition catalogue from Yoko Ono’s 1996 show Fly from the Anderson Gallery at the Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond, Virginia. Yoko Ono is known today as an artist, peace activist, singer and songwriter, and is most well known for her work in performance and filmmaking. Each object included in the Fly is meant to activate the audience and achieve an individual intimacy through participation. Objects included are: two stones wrapped in white tissue paper with the text Cleaning Piece ‘96; two acorns wrapped in printed text titled Wish Piece ‘96; a twenty-page pamphlet titled Fly; and five white postcards. “Fly is about freedom. The yearning for it, and something more.”
