New Edition of the Complete Works

A critical edition is based on the scholarly evaluation and collation of sources, taking into account variant readings and aspects of contemporary performance practice. Critical editions balance scholarly study with practical performance, offering advanced musicians essential information that is fundamental to their understanding of a piece of music and its early history. Many decades of study and scholarly work are necessary for the production of critical editions. We usually have open-ended subscriptions, collecting volume by volume as the edition emerges (as indicated for the Tchaikovsky edition above). Since the Albino Gorno Memorial Library opened, we have worked to build an excellent collection of critical editions, pertaining to many composers well-known in Western art music.
