My name is Julia Elizabeth Bond and I have had a love for fashion from a young age. Styling Barbies since I was six, I have always loved how clothing can make you feel! I am currently a second year Exploratory student that will be transferring into the Fashion program at The College of Design, Art, Architecture, and Planning (DAAP). With strong interests in photography and fashion, the UC Forward Bonnie Cashin class seemed like a great way to use both. I am currently 19 years old, and my love for fashion has grown while studying the Bonnie Cashin Collection here at The University of Cincinnati.

I took this class because I wanted to take a look at one of the most influential people on modern dress. Studying Bonnie Cashin’s work gives me more of an appreciation for the style and the technique of how garments are made and designed. By studying the history of these garments it has made me realize that behind every garment, there is a story of who was going to wear it, and what they wanted to showcase to the world. Clothing has a way of saying more than words can, and Bonnie Cashin’s work is still speaking to people in the fashion world today.
