My name is Erika Frondorf and I am currently a 2nd year in fashion design at the School of Design, Art, Architecture, and Planning at the University of Cincinnati. I have always been incredibly interested in history and – as a fashion major – fashion history is especially fascinating to me. I was drawn to this course due to the fact that it focused on a fashion designer that I did not know much about, yet had so much influence on the history of American fashion. While I found the history aspect of this course exciting, I never realized how much goes into protecting these vintage garments. Throughout this course, I was invested in the processes used to preserve and showcase these garments. This course has definitely changed my idea of not only Bonnie Cashin’s influence on the fashion of history, but also the importance of preservation for future generations to study these important pieces of history.
