My name is Megan Roell. I’m from Batesville, Indiana. I go to the University of Cincinnati. My major is undecided at the moment, but I plan to apply for Fashion Design for Fall 2014, with a minor in marketing. The Bonnie Cashin class was everything I expected, plus more. I decided to take the course, Documenting a Fashion Icon: Bonnie Cashin, because my professor in DAAP last year would bring up her name a lot which got me very interested in her. Then when I saw there was a course devoted just to her I knew I had to take it because I wanted to learn more about this fabulous designer. Gong to different museums and having guest speakers come in was a lot of fun, but my favorite part of the course was observing the clothing and picking out our three favorite pieces that we wanted to focus on. It was so cool being able to look and touch these amazing pieces of work up close. Setting up the studio was also one of my favorite parts. It was awesome being able to set up the lighting and take pictures of your garment to make them look just right. The class was not only a lot of fun, but I feel like I knew Bonnie myself because I learned so much about her.
