My name is Melea Green and I am a senior Fashion Design-Product Development major at the University of Cincinnati in DAAP. I grew up in a small town outside of Cincinnati, Ohio. Since I was young, I always loved art and being creative. I fell in love with fashion design over the years and made it my mission to make it in the fashion industry. I initially didn’t know of Bonnie Cashin before entering this course, but have learned of all the contributions she made. She never conformed to society, but blazed her own path. She deserves to be well known and remembered for her revolutionary ideas. From her vivid color choices symbolizing the rise in feminine power to the clasp she developed that left no one closing their bag the same way again; she is an inspiration. Her intuition and fashionable and functional garments inspire me. She left a mark on history that should not be forgotten.
