East of Sun, West of Moon (1922)

East of Sun, West of Moon, illustrated by Kaye Nielsen uses blue to depict scenery.  In the illustration with the polar bear, blue represents cold and a long journey.  Blue in the stained-glass windows represents holiness and serenity.  The blue of the sky filled with birds creates a magical atmosphere.  The deep blue of the sky with the woman looking upwards creates magic with a cleansing tone.
