STRC

The STRC is a student-centered service area located on the 4th floor of Langsam Library. This area features specialized software and equipment that enable students to work on digital assignments.

Students can create webpages, edit video and audio files, convert file formats, create CDs or DVDs, scan images, create presentations in PowerPoint or Flash, and receive assistance in preparing Electronic Theses and Dissertations. Adobe products such as PhotoShop, Dreamweaver, Acrobat, InDesign, Premiere, and more are available.

System Upgrades: Tuesday, June 15, and Thursday, June 17. Interlibrary Loan and Databases affected.

Illiad, the UC Libraries Interlibrary loan system, will be offline all day, on Thursday, June 17, for a system upgrade. (Note, this is a change from the previously announced date of June 16). Additionally, on Tuesday, June 16, hardware updates must be made to server systems. This may result in intermittent outages of certain applications for a brief period Tuesday morning.

New Blog for the Nat’l Book Award:60 Years

nbaThe National Book Foundation has a new blog up to celebrate it’s 60th anniversary. The Blog features 77 fiction novels that have won their National Book Award. Notice something strange?

As the LA Times says:

“The National Book Foundation, celebrating its 60th anniversary, is running a series celebrating the 77 novels that have won its fiction award — or rather, awards. Because obviously somebody got fancy in there if they ended up with 17 more winning books than there have been years.”
