    Partnering to Integrate New Technology into Nursing Education

Harrison Health Sciences Library (HSL) and nurse educators from the University of Cincinnati Medical Center (UCMC) launched a pilot program that integrates a Sectra Virtual Dissection Table into the Critical Care Nurse Residency Program (CCNRP) curriculum. The CCNRP is a mandatory education program for novice, critical care registered nurses who are hired into UCMC’s intensive care, emergency care or progressive care areas. The cohorts range in size from 12 to 32 members and CCNRP meets every Wednesday and Thursday from 7 a.m. – 3 p.m. for seven weeks. In the past, the course featured traditional lectures and…

    Focus on Technology in UC Libraries: The Visualization Laboratory

    Located within the Geology-Mathematics-Physics (GMP) Library, 240 Braunstein Hall, the Visualization Laboratory (Viz Lab) offers a suite of research services focused on data science, analysis and visualization. Operated as one of the services provided by the UC Libraries’ Research and Data Services (RDS) unit, a primary goal of the Viz Lab is to engage with the UC community to continually improve teaching and research outcomes by providing a high-tech and collaborative working environment.The Viz Lab is open to users at any research level, including undergraduate students, graduate students, post-docs, staff and faculty across all disciplines and departments.     Scholar@UC Upgrade Enhances the Repository’s Use and Access

    This spring, the Libraries announced that Scholar@UC, the University of Cincinnati’s digital repository, was updated to include enhanced submission and viewing features. The upgrade included: improved look & feel content dashboard for easier management of submitted works batch work creation and upload – upload an entire folder of works simultaneously or create multiple works at once including from folders usage analytics of content (views and downloads) new work-relation model allowing works to be nested and related in meaningful ways social media sharing widgets.     Digital Scholarship Center Awarded $900,000 Grant from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation

    The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation awarded the University of Cincinnati a $900,000 grant in support of the Digital Scholarship Center’s research on machine learning and data visualization in multiple disciplines in the humanities and beyond. Located in the Walter C. Langsam Library, the Digital Scholarship Center (DSC) is a joint venture of UC Libraries and the College of Arts and Sciences.
