UC Libraries & The Elliston Poetry room present Poetry Stacked
The University of Cincinnati Libraries and the Elliston Poetry Room announce Poetry Stacked, a semi-regular poetry reading series held in the 6th floor east stacks of the Walter C. Langsam Library. Scheduled for Wednesdays, Oct. 19 and Nov. 30 at 4:30pm, each event will feature three poets reading their original poetry. Each session will include a UC faculty or staff member, a student and a local or national community member. The mission of Poetry Stacked is to celebrate poetry and raise awareness of the collections of both UC Libraries and the Elliston Poetry Room. Oesper Museum Receives National Landmark Award

Oesper Museum and Collections in the History of Chemistry as an American Chemical Society National Historic Chemical Landmark. The ACS National Landmark program recognizes seminal achievements in the chemical sciences in order to enhance public appreciation for contributions of the chemical sciences to modern life. The Illustrated Human: The Impact of Andreas Vesalius
This past academic year, the Henry R. Winkler Center for the History of the Health Professions, along with University of Cincinnati Libraries and the UC College of Medicine, celebrated the seminal work of Andreas Vesalius with a series of online and in-person lectures and exhibits. The series, titled “The Illustrated Human: The Impact of Andreas Vesalius,” ran from October 2021 through March 2022 and provided an in-depth look and study of this monumental book of human anatomy first published in 1543. Andreas Vesalius was a Renaissance anatomist and physician who revolutionized the study and practice of medicine through his careful description of the anatomy of the human body. And the Winners are…Results of the 2022 UC Libraries International Edible Books Festival
The University of Cincinnati Libraries celebrated the International Edible Books Festival on Friday, April 1, 2022. Sixteen edible books were created by students, faculty, staff, librarians, friends and family. The entries ranged from children’s books to literary classics to popular fiction and nonfiction books. The edible books were made of cakes, cookies, Rice Krispie Treats, candy, Peeps, olives and even carrots. Each entry was judged by our esteemed judges Rachel Hoople and Imani Coleman and awarded a bookmark. Created by librarian Judith A. UC Libraries Announce Phased Approach to Re-Open Library Facilities July 2020 – With the start of the 2020 fall semester, UC Libraries re-opened library facilities to the UC community in a limited, phased approach to ensure social distancing. OhioLINK and Interlibrary Loan Borrowing have resumed August 2020 – Library users could once again request OhioLINK materials for pickup at Langsam Library using the OhioLINK catalog or by using the “Search OhioLINK” tab after a search in our local Library Catalog. A Photo Montage of the past academic year. The first half of the academic year found most faculty and staff working remotely, while a dedicated core continued to work onsite. With the start of the 2020 fall semester, UC Libraries re-opened library facilities to the UC community in a limited, phased approach to ensure social distancing. The stacks remained closed and areas of each library were closed off. Users could still access library collections through the widely used Click & Collect request and retrieval service, and receive assistance through online instruction and the popular CHAT reference service.
