Swift"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Jonathan Swift was an Anglo-Irish satirist.\u00a0 He is best known for such works as Gulliver\u2019s Travels, A Modest Proposal, and A Tale of a Tub.\u00a0 Swift originally published all of his works under pseudonyms, such as Lemuel Gulliver, Isaac Bickerstaff, MB Drapier, or anonymously.\u00a0 He is a master of two styles of satire:\u00a0 the Horation and Juvenalian styles.\u00a0 Critics hail Gulliver\u2019s Travels as a satiric reflection on the shortcomings of Enlightenment thought.<\/p>\n<p><i>Notable works in ARB\u2019s\u00a0collection:<\/i><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Publick Spirit of the Whigs (1714), 1st\u00a0edition<\/li>\n<li>Essays Divine, Moral, and Political (1714),
