Singing Telegrams. Since 1978 when the paper was written, Mabel H. Singing Telegrams have disappeared from Cincinnati, and are likely a rarity anywhere in the county. Chambers wrote on the singing telegram as a form of folk humor,<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;Their genre is a combination of the<\/em><br \/>\n<em>conversational, play and static classifications, <\/em><br \/>\n<em>which incorporates tradition, nostalgia, history <\/em><br \/>\n<em>and entertainment. Singing telegrams are <\/em><br \/>\n<em>conversational in their manner. The messenger <\/em><br \/>\n<em>introduces himself to the recipient, who <\/em><br \/>\n<em>surprisingly questions him on his appearances <\/em><br \/>\n<em>and purpose.
