A wide sampling of the publications from UC faculty in 2008 was celebrated at the 23rd annual Authors, Editors and Composers reception and program. Presented by the University of Cincinnati Libraries, the event was held Thursday, April 23, in the Russell C. Myers Alumni Center.

Authors, Editors and Composers recognized 280 UC faculty who submitted 439 publications from 2008. Participating faculty represented 15 of UC’s colleges as well as the Libraries, the Division of Professional Practice, the Institute for Policy Research and Governmental Relations and University Communications. Published works ranged from books and academic journals to music, photography, videos and poetry, and spanned five different languages – English, French, Spanish, German and Romanian.

“Authors, Editors and Composers is our tribute to the research, scholarship and creative pursuits of UC’s faculty,” said Victoria A. Montavon, dean and university librarian. The event also featured remarks from Anthony J. Perzigian, UC senior vice president and provost.

The published works covered a multitude of subjects – nutrition therapies for treating hypertension, teaching and writing in the digital age, political campaign communication, the demise of newspapers, social movements, the Vietnam War, music on Broadway, crime analysis and school uniforms.

Displays at the reception also featured UC’s photography talent, artwork and productions on DVD.

Many of the published works from Authors, Editors & Composers are now on public display in Langsam Library’s fourth and fifth floor lobbies through June 14. The full bibliography of the submitted works is available online.

“Authors, Editors & Composers” is sponsored by the Friends of the Libraries. This group of library donors assists the Libraries in many ways, including providing support for exhibits that draw attention to library collections.
