Archives and Rare Books Library Stacks
Are you thinking about doing some archival research this fall? If so, both the Archives and Rare Books Library and the Winkler Center for the History of the Health Professions have a new way for you to find archival collections at the University of Cincinnati and across Ohio: Encoded Archival Description, or EAD. The OhioLINK Finding Aid Repository available at http://ead.ohiolink.edu/xtf-ead/, allows you to search archival collections across the State of Ohio, including those at the University of Cincinnati.
The repository currently contains descriptions for over 100 of UC’s archival collections, and more collections are added every week. Eventually, more than 2000 collections will have EAD cataloguing. The database allows researchers to search by title, subject, contributing institution, or keyword, and provides researchers with a short description of the collection and an inventory of the items within the collection. This database has also enabled the University of Cincinnati Libraries to conform to national archival standards using EAD. Other institutions participating in the Finding Aid Repository include the Ohio Historical Society, Wright State University, Kent State University, and Ohio State University.
