Meet the UC Libraries’ Science Informationist

Hello! I am Amy Koshoffer, the new UC Libraries Science Informationist.

I am one member of a team of informationists working to provide research data services and instruction to the UC research community. My primary focus will be on researchers in Engineering and the Sciences, including Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Geology, Geography, Mathematics, and Physics. The informationist team includes others based in the Health Sciences Library (East Campus), including Tiffany Grant, a Research Informationist who is focusing on services to biomedical researchers.

Amy Koshoffer
Science Informationist

A primary role of the Science Informationist is to provide research data services and instruction, including consultation on data management plans in grant applications, the creation and application of metadata standards, data analysis and data visualization. Other roles of the informationist are to help promote digital scholarship, including the UC digital repository, and to support other e-science needs. I will strive to work collaboratively with researchers and UC librarians/informationists to develop resources and tools that support interdisciplinary teaching and research.

The scope and roles of my position will develop and evolve based on the needs and interests of the UC research community. I am definitely learning as I go! I have spent the last 16 years performing bench top research, primarily in the field of cell biology, so I will experience many new areas of research as the Science Informationist. I look forward to visiting your labs and offices to learn first-hand how I can best bring you the tools and resources needed. You can contact me at Amy.Koshoffer@uc.edu.
