UCBA Librarians participated in the second annual UC Serves event held on Friday, May 8, 2015. This year’s activities began with the UC Serves Kick-Off event
where participants learned more about their projects, met team leaders and other team members and picked up t-shirts and goodie-bags.

Library Director Heather Maloney and Instructional Technologies Librarian Kellie Tilton joined a team of 5 other UC faculty and staff to do some spring cleaning at the American Cancer Society of Cincinnati Musekamp Family Hope Lodge. The team had the honor of shampooing carpet, cleaning and sorting kitchenettes and dusting and polishing beautiful, historic woodwork in this facility where cancer patients and their caregiver(s) can find a “home away from home”. For more information about the Musekamp Family Hope Lodge, visit http://goo.gl/fMJ20B.

Michelle McKinney’s team began building a tool shed at the Concord Garden.

Reference and Web Services Librarian Michelle McKinney served as a Team Leader for one of the Walnut Hills Concord Garden teams. The Concord Garden is located at the corner of Concord and Morgan Streets in Walnut Hills and is coordinated by the Walnut Hills Redevelopment Foundation. Michelle’s team of 4 began constructing a tool bin made of repurposed doors. The structure will be completed in the following weeks by additional volunteers from other organizations. The garden contains garden boxes (built by another UC Serves team) and a retention pond. The garden is available for use by members of the community along. The library faculty enjoyed spending the day helping others and look forward to next year’s projects.
