Join UC Libraries Feb. 24 for a “Celebration of Excellence in Black History”

bridges to diversity and inclusion iconSpeakers, performances and cultural food favorites will be center stage at “Celebration of Excellence in Black History,” scheduled for February 24, 2:30-4:30 pm, Langsam Library 462.

Free and open to all, included in the program will be:

  • Intro, History of Black History Month: Dr. Karen Cudjoe
  • Poetry: Nick Wantsala
  • Journal reflection Prompt “What is your Dream?”: Don Jason
  • Inventor’s Skit: Soul Consciousness Theatre Troop
  • Poetry from a local poetry artist: Black Budda’ Fly
  • Journal reflection opportunity (students will work on their diversity journals in response to the prompt)
  • Panel, highlights from student groups. (Group information session)

“Celebration of Excellence in Black History” is supported by a grant from the Provost’s Office to promote and celebrate diversity throughout the university community. Entitled “Bridges to Diversity and Inclusion” this initiative provides a school year filled with events, programs and exhibits designed to celebrate diversity on the UC campus and beyond.
