{"id":11658,"date":"2011-12-07T10:15:16","date_gmt":"2011-12-07T14:15:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.libraries.uc.edu\/liblog\/?p=11658"},"modified":"2011-12-07T10:15:16","modified_gmt":"2011-12-07T14:15:16","slug":"50-minutes-1-book-4","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/libapps.libraries.uc.edu\/liblog\/2011\/12\/50-minutes-1-book-4\/","title":{"rendered":"50 Minutes-1 Book"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>By Kevin Grace<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The first <strong><em>50 Minutes \u2013 1 Book <\/em><\/strong>lunchtime talk for this  academic year will be held Thursday, December 8, in the Archives &amp;  Rare Books Library, in the Schott Seminar Room, 814 Blegen Library at  12:00 noon.<\/p>\n<p>Greg Hand will discuss the book variously known as \u201cThe Cincinnati  Guide\u201d or \u201cThe WPA Guide to Cincinnati,\u201d although its actual title is <em>Cincinnati: A Guide to the Queen City and its Neighbors<\/em>,  published in 1943 and written by the workers of the Federal Writers  Project. In the seven decades since publication, it has become an  essential starting point for historians of Cincinnati. For this  discussion, Hand will talk about the Great Depression and the WPA in  Cincinnati and Ohio.
