Come enjoy a free buffet lunch of Southern specialties while listening to selected works from African American authors<!--more-->, including some of the UC Blue Ash faculty, staff and students.<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div><strong>National African American Read-In<\/strong><\/div>\n<div><strong>UC Blue Ash College<\/strong><\/div>\n<div><strong>Muntz Hall &#8211; One Stop Lobby<\/strong><\/div>\n<div><strong>Monday, February 20, 2012<\/strong><\/div>\n<div><strong>11:30 am &#8211; 1:00 pm<\/strong><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>The NAARI CampusGuide \u00a0was created in conjunction with UC Blue Ash College&#8217;s National African American Read-In\u00a0event and\u00a0is also \u00a0at\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/guides.libraries.uc.edu\/ucba-naari\" target=\"_blank\">http:\/\/guides.libraries.uc.edu\/ucba-naari<\/a>. This guide represents selected &#8220;Must Read&#8221; Books by African American Authors (recommended by Black Caucus Members of the National Council of Teachers of English, and compiled by Sandra E. Gibbs) and additional items that are available via UC Libraries.<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The NAARI book display is available for browsing and borrowing in the reference area of the UCBA Library. The display features works by African American authors in a variety of \u00a0genres. Volunteer readers are encouraged to browse and choose a selection to read from for the event.<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div><strong>Volunteer to Read<\/strong><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div>Students, staff and faculty can participate in this exciting event by volunteering to read aloud a short passage (2-3 minutes or less) by an African American author.<\/div>\n<p>Volunteers readers can obtain a reading in the following ways:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Bring your own short reading by a favorite African American author.<\/li>\n<li>Choose from a variety of readings compiled by the event committee located in the Writing and Study Skills Center. These selections are available to faculty, staff, &amp; students.<\/li>\n<li>Borrow a title from the UCBA Library&#8217;s NAARI display.<\/li>\n<li>Use the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/guides.libraries.uc.edu\/ucba-naari\" target=\"_blank\">NAARI CampusGuide<\/a>\u00a0to find and request items available at other UC Libraries.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/guides.libraries.uc.edu\/survey.php?survey_id=2332\" target=\"_blank\">Volunteers can sign up here.<\/a>\u00a0 A brief list of reader instructions will be sent out once the volunteer list has been compiled.
