Myers Alumni Center. <em>Life of the Mind<\/em> features interdisciplinary conversations with UC faculty around a one-word theme followed by audience Q&amp;A. Each quarter, there are two <em>Life of the Mind<\/em> sessions with three &#8220;thought provocateurs&#8221; contributing to each session. The spring <em>Life of the Mind <\/em>theme is <em>Identity<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>At the April 10 event, three distinguished faculty members will address the theme from unique and diverse perspectives:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Stefan Fiol<\/strong>, Assistant Professor of Ethnomusicology, College-Conservatory of Music, \u201cThe Performance of Identity\u201d<\/li>\n<li><strong>Laura Dudley Jenkins<\/strong>, Associate Professor of Political Science, McMicken College of Arts and Sciences, \u201cIdentity Improvisation\u201d<\/li>\n<li><strong>Gregory H. Williams<\/strong>, President, University of Cincinnati, \u201cIdentity \u2013 Two Centuries of Uncertainty\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The second session in the series on \u201cIdentity\u201d will be held Tuesday, May 8 from 3:30-5pm and will feature:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Elaine Hollensbe<\/strong>, Associate Professor of Management, Carl H. Lindner College of Business<\/li>\n<li><strong>Amy C. Lind<\/strong>, Associate Professor of Women&#8217;s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies, McMicken College of Arts and Sciences<\/li>\n<li><strong>Jeffrey M. Timberlake<\/strong>, Associate Professor of Sociology, McMicken College of Arts and Sciences<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a0\u201cLife of the Mind\u201d is free and open to the public and attracts a broad audience including UC students, faculty, staff, and alumni, as well as people from the community. Past themes have included \u201cTechnology\u201d and \u201cWar.\u201d More information about \u201c<em>Life of the Mind<\/em>\u201d is available online at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.libraries.uc.edu\/lifeofthemind\/\">www.libraries.uc.edu\/lifeofthemind\/<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Can&#8217;t make it to the Alumni Association to participate in person? <em>&#8220;Life of the Mind&#8221;<\/em> will be streamed live at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.libraries.uc.edu\/lifeofthemind\/\">www.libraries.uc.edu\/lifeofthemind\/<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>Life of the Mind<\/em>\u201d is co-sponsored by the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.uc.edu\/provost.html\">Office of the Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost<\/a>, the Chair of the University Faculty, and the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.libraries.uc.edu\/index.html\">UC Libraries<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>___________________________________________<\/p>\n<p>Continue the discussion of \u201cLife of the Mind\u201d at lunch at the Faculty Club on Wednesday, April 11 at 12:00pm.\u00a0The club will offer free dessert and coffee to those who eat lunch at the \u201cLife of the Mind Table.\u201d\u00a0This event is open to all.
