On Saturday, October 12, the 7th annual Books by the Banks: Cincinnati USA Book Festival will take place at Duke Energy Convention Center from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Once again, UC Libraries is an organizing partner of the literary event that allows readers to meet and greet favorite authors.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
The day-long festival will feature over\u00a0100 regional and national authors, book signings, author panels, and activities\u00a0for the entire family to enjoy. New this year is a Writing\/Getting Published\u00a0series of panels. All events are free and open to the public<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Leah\u00a0 Stewart, <\/strong>associate professor and area director of creative writing in the McMicken\u00a0College of Arts and Sciences<\/a>, will be among the 100+ authors at the\u00a0festival.\u00a0Stewart is the author of the\u00a0novels The History of Us, Husband and Wife, The Myth of You and Me<\/em>, and Body\u00a0of a Girl<\/em>. In The History of Us<\/em>, the newest novel by the celebrated\u00a0 author, three grown siblings return to their childhood home and face a family\u00a0 secret that forces them to reexamine their relationships to each other and to\u00a0 the aunt who took them in as children. Also from UC,\u00a0 staff from\u00a0The Cincinnati Review<\/em><\/strong> will be at the festival to promote the literary journal.<\/p>\n A commemorative Books by the Banks\u00a0poster by artist\/illustrator and Books by the Banks participant Jeffrey Ebbeler\u00a0will be available for purchase at the festival for $15.<\/p>\n Books by the Banks is organized by UC Libraries<\/a>, The Mercantile\u00a0 Library<\/a>, the Public Library of\u00a0 Cincinnati and Hamilton County<\/a>, Joseph-Beth\u00a0 Booksellers<\/a>, Northern Kentucky University W. Frank\u00a0 Steely Library<\/a>, Clermont County\u00a0 Library<\/a>, the Lane Libraries<\/a>, and the MidPointe\u00a0 Library System<\/a>.<\/p>\n The Books by the Banks website has\u00a0 information on the authors scheduled to appear at the event, a schedule of\u00a0 panel sessions, activities scheduled in the Kids\u2019 Corner, as well as directions\u00a0 and parking information for Duke Energy Convention Center. At the festival, attendees will have\u00a0 the opportunity to meet authors and to purchase signed copies of their books.\u00a0Books by the Banks features writers in various categories including fiction,\u00a0non-fiction, cooking, children’s literature, local travel, sports, and more.\u00a0Nationally known authors such as Stuart Woods, R.J. Palacio, Maria Semple,\u00a0 James McBride, and Bob Shea will join local favorites Will Hillenbrand, Michael\u00a0Keating, and Barbara and David Day to celebrate the joy and reading of books.<\/p>\n
