As we celebrate Information Literacy Awareness Month, we challenge you to demonstrate your skills as an image detective.
\nThere are a\"sherlock\"<\/a> lot of amazing picture posted on the web, but many of them are real and others are not \u2013 there are so many ways to alter images or pass them for what they are not by adding a misleading caption. Let\u2019s see how good you are at spotting fakery!<\/p>\n

Tuesday challenge answer:<\/strong><\/p>\n

All images were manipulated in some way.
\n– An unknown hoaxer digitally added the cigarette into the photo of President Obama. The altered\u00a0picture has been\u00a0appearing online since 2008.\u00a0\u00a0The original photo <\/a>was taken in August 2004 Aug. 3, 2004 while then-State Sen. Obama met with constituents at the University of Illinois while campaigning to become a U.S. Senator.
\n– President Lincoln never posed for this portrait.\u00a0It is a composite\u00a0of Lincoln’s head and the body of southern politician John C.\u00a0Calhoun<\/a>.
\n– Goebbels was originally in the picture next to Hitler, but after he fell out of favor with Hitler he was removed from the group in the picture and you can see\u00a0his body outline if you look closer. See this and other doctored historic photos<\/a>.<\/p>\n
