Each Other: The Lasting Impact of Juneteenth<\/strong>, an online WebEx event scheduled for <strong>Friday, June 18<\/strong><\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"><strong>, from 10-11:30 am<\/strong>. <a href=\"https:\/\/ucincinnati.webex.com\/ucincinnati\/onstage\/g.php?MTID=eb34b3ac6b43e6ac349cf4281bf67ab83\">Registration<\/a> and link location are available online. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">J<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">uneteenth, also known as African American Freedom Day or <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Emancipation Day, is celebrated on June 19 to mark the\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">emancipation of enslaved people in the United States.\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">U<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">niversity of <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">C<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">incinnati<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0Libraries\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">RESPECT Group invites you to learn about the history<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0of the Juneteenth holiday and\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">its<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0lasting<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0and\u00a0impact<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">on United States<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u2019<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0culture and society.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">This interactive session will\u00a0introduce\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">conversations around <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">slavery, racism<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> and\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">modern-day<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> injustices. A prepared presentation will include <\/span>interviews with formerly enslaved people, videos of culture, music and poetry contrasting the past and present. <span data-contrast=\"auto\">Come prepared to<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0reflect\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">and <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">share your thoughts and feelings on these topics in this safe space environment. <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">In addition, the program will introduce the newly formed\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">Racial Equity Support &amp; Programming to Educate the Community Team (RESPECT)<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">,\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">a UC Libraries committee<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">charged with developing external programming that explicitly addresses the role that systemic racism plays in our society.<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Join us for R.E.S.P.E.C.T.
