Last Fall, UC Libraries made the tough decision to\u00a0break up\u00a0with\u00a0our Statista subscription.\u00a0 The decision came down to two reasons:<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

  1. Statista\u2019s price rose over 200% in the past two years<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. More importantly, Statista\u2019s data is accessible from other vendors and resources.\u00a0 The Statista\u00a0<\/span> platform\u00a0serves as a portal to finding statistics.\u00a0Basically, subscribers pay for ease of access to a\u00a0<\/span> lot of statistics.\u00a0Most of these\u00a0statistics\u00a0come from government resources, industry associations,\u00a0and other\u00a0vendors of statistical information.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    A\u00a0few examples:\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    1. Data Planet
      \n<\/span><\/b>Touted as the \u201clargest repository of standardized and structured statistical data\u201d. It has 13.5 billion datasets, pulls from over 90 data providers and covers 16 major subject categories. It also provides users with tutorials on how to analyze data and incorporate it into their research.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
    2. US Census<\/span><\/b>
      \nOne of the largest producers of social and economic data and statistics. The economic census includes Trade, Manufacturing, Construction, Financial,\u00a0Insurance and Real Estate statistics.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
    3. FRED (Federal Reserve Economic Data)<\/span><\/b>
      \nEconomic data out of the St. Louis Federal Reserve Bank including inflation rate, consumer price index,\u00a0unemployment rate, and more. FRED also provides a lot of teaching resources for economic\u00a0data.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
    4. Market Research Reports from IBIS, Mintel, Euromonitor and many more!<\/span><\/b>
      \nUC Libraries subscribes to many market research databases.\u00a0 These reports provide domestic and international industry level data as well as consumer demographics and statistics.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      These databases and resources are accessible through\u00a0<\/span>UC Libraries<\/span><\/a> and UC’s <\/span>research guides<\/span><\/a>. These resources are being updated these through the Summer, so please check back to see what\u2019s new.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
