The annual lecture features interdisciplinary conversations with UC faculty around a distinctive point of view. This year\u2019s <em>Life of the Mind <\/em>is scheduled as a hybrid event with both in-person and virtual components; therefore, it is not required that the speaker present in person.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The <em>Life of the Mind<\/em> Steering Committee <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/forms.office.com\/Pages\/ResponsePage.aspx?id=bC4i9cZf60iPA3PbGCA7Yy3nJtrFot9BlghncyFTvyJUMFZXQUJQRkdMQzRCV1FMMjdWVlNNR0hXNy4u\"><strong>seeks nominations<\/strong><\/a><strong> for the featured UC faculty presenter at the Tuesday, Feb 22, 2022 lecture<\/strong>. The faculty presenter should be an expert in their respective field with a proven record of scholarship or creation of works, as well as be an engaging speaker able to address a diverse audience. The presentation will not simply be a recitation of the faculty member\u2019s work or research, but will promote a point of view and provoke discussion that spans broad intellectual interests from multiple perspectives.<\/p>\n<p>Following the faculty presenter\u2019s lecture, a panel will respond to and discuss the lecture and a moderator will encourage audience engagement. The <em>Life of the Mind<\/em> event will also celebrate the published or performed creative and scholarly works of UC\u2019s artists, authors, editors &amp; composers with an exhibit and bibliography.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong>Criteria for the 2022 Featured UC Faculty Presenter:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Accomplished, distinguished UC faculty member or emeriti faculty member with a national\/international reputation.<\/li>\n<li>Proven record of scholarship or creative works.<\/li>\n<li>Recognized as an expert in their field of study, research or creation of works.<\/li>\n<li>Experienced at presenting their work to an audience outside the classroom.<\/li>\n<li>Excellent and engaging speaker able to relate to a non-specialist audience.<\/li>\n<li>Provocative topic of study\/research\/creative work.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/forms.office.com\/Pages\/ResponsePage.aspx?id=bC4i9cZf60iPA3PbGCA7Yy3nJtrFot9BlghncyFTvyJUMFZXQUJQRkdMQzRCV1FMMjdWVlNNR0hXNy4u\"><strong>Complete the online form<\/strong><\/a><strong> to nominate a UC faculty member as the <em>Life of the Mind <\/em>featured faculty presenter. <\/strong>Nomination deadline is 5pm, Friday, Nov 12. Self-nominations are welcome. Faculty members who <a href=\"https:\/\/libapps.libraries.uc.edu\/aaec\">submitted published or performed creative and scholarly works<\/a> by Nov 12 for inclusion in the Artists, Authors, Editors &amp; Composers exhibit and bibliography will automatically be considered for the featured presenter.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong><em>Life of the Mind<\/em><\/strong> Steering Committee will review all nominations and select the Featured UC faculty presenter.
