Save the Date<\/span><\/i>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Join us during the week of\u00a0<\/span>November 15-19<\/span><\/b>\u00a0for a virtual\u00a0<\/span>GIS Day<\/span><\/a>\u00a0program featuring a keynote speaker, lightning talk sessions, and a digital map gallery. This event is free and open to the public, and registration\u00a0details\u00a0will be available soon.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

GIS stands for Geographic Information Systems.\u00a0 It is a powerful research tool that makes use of the geospatial attribute<\/span>\u00a0of data<\/span>.\u00a0 One of the oldest and most famous examples is the map showing how John Snow was able to determine the source of a <\/span>cholera outbreak in London<\/span><\/a> from the location of sick individuals.\u00a0 <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>3C GIS Day(s) 2021 is a collaboration between Case Western Reserve University, The Ohio State University, and the University of Cincinnati.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Lightning Talk Call for Proposals<\/span><\/i>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The 3C GIS Day(s) planning committee invites submissions for lightning talks (10 minutes) from any faculty, staff, or students affiliated with one of the three organizing institutions. We encourage submissions from any disciplines\u00a0that use\u00a0geospatial information in any format, such as agriculture and environmental sciences, geography, engineering, business, health sciences, urban planning, and the humanities and social sciences, among others. We especially encourage submissions from graduate and undergraduate students who would like to showcase their work through a fun and informal presentation opportunity.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Please submit your lightning talk\u00a0proposal\u00a0by\u00a0<\/span>Friday, October 15<\/span><\/b>:\u00a0<\/span>Lightning Talk Submission Form<\/span><\/a>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Information collected during the submission process includes\u00a0presenter name and affiliation,\u00a0availability during proposed sessions times, and presentation details (title, brief description, and any collaborators).<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
