{"id":44247,"date":"2023-09-06T15:24:00","date_gmt":"2023-09-06T19:24:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/libapps.libraries.uc.edu\/liblog\/?p=44247"},"modified":"2023-09-06T15:24:56","modified_gmt":"2023-09-06T19:24:56","slug":"join-us-september-27-for-the-return-of-poetry-stacked","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/libapps.libraries.uc.edu\/liblog\/2023\/09\/join-us-september-27-for-the-return-of-poetry-stacked\/","title":{"rendered":"Join us September 27 for the return of Poetry Stacked"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/libraries.uc.edu\/\">University of Cincinnati Libraries<\/a>&nbsp;and the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.artsci.uc.edu\/departments\/english\/creative-writing\/elliston-collection.html\">Elliston Poetry Room<\/a> announce the next roster of poets for <a href=\"https:\/\/libraries.uc.edu\/about\/events\/poetry-stacked.html\">Poetry Stacked<\/a>, a semi-regular poetry reading series held in the 6th floor east stacks of the <a href=\"https:\/\/libraries.uc.edu\/libraries\/langsam.html\">Walter C. Langsam Library<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the next event,&nbsp;<strong>scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 27 at 4:30pm<\/strong>, three poets will read original works.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text alignwide is-stacked-on-mobile\" style=\"grid-template-columns:46% auto\"><figure class=\"wp-block-media-text__media\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"200\" height=\"675\" src=\"https:\/\/libapps.libraries.uc.edu\/liblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/poets_sept27_23_sized-2-200x675.png\" alt=\"Join us September 27 for the return of Poetry Stacked\" class=\"wp-image-44253 size-full\"\/><\/figure><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Elijah Guerra<\/strong> is a poet and collage artist whose poetry is forthcoming in DREGINALD and Permafrost and whose collages appear in The Spectacle. They received their PhD in English from University of Missouri, Columbia. They teach rhetoric and composition at University of Cincinnati.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Rebecca Griswold<\/strong>\u2019s debut collection of poems, &#8220;The Attic Bedroom,&#8221; is out now with Milk &amp; Cake Press (2022). Her poems have appeared in Cimarron Review, Superstition Review, Blood Orange Review, Revolute, Pine Mountain Sand &amp; Gravel, among others. She is an MFA candidate at Warren Wilson, and she was a finalist for the River Styx International Poetry Contest. She\u2019d describe herself as equal parts Valentine\u2019s Day and Halloween. She owns and operates White Whale Tattoo alongside her husband in Cincinnati.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Asher Marron<\/strong> is a PhD student in poetry at the University of Cincinnati. They hold an MFA from San Francisco State, where they were a William S. Dickey Fellow. Asher\u2019s chapbook, &#8220;We were alone together. I forget the rest.&#8221;, was the winner of the 2020 San Francisco Pandemic Chapbook Contest. Their book,&nbsp; &#8220;Unbind(ing),&#8221; was published in 2018 through Conviction 2 Change Press. Their poems appear in journals including 14 Hills and Transfer Magazine, and the Enfleshed anthology, Held: Blessings for the Depths.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The mission of Poetry Stacked is to celebrate poetry and raise awareness of the collections of both UC Libraries and the Elliston Poetry Room.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Each reading engages audiences via exposure to contemporary poetry and increases appreciation for both the talents of UC and community poets, as well as for poetry itself. Poetry Stacked is free and open to all to attend. Following each reading, guests are invited to tour the Elliston Poetry Room.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The intent of the series is to enrich and engage the UC campus and Cincinnati communities in accordance with the Libraries\u2019&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/libraries.uc.edu\/about\/strategic-framework.html\">Strategic Framework<\/a>&nbsp;and the Next Lives Here Strategic Directions in support of Academic Excellence and Community Engagement. It aligns with the Libraries\u2019 vision as the globally engaged, intellectual commons of the university \u2013 positioning ourselves as the hub of collaboration, digital innovation, and scholarly endeavor on campus and beyond.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Can\u2019t make it to Poetry Stacks in person? It will be live streamed via the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/ellistonpoetryroom\/\">Elliston Poetry Room\u2019s Instagram<\/a>.
