The University of Cincinnati Libraries<\/a> and the Elliston Poetry Room<\/a> announce the next roster of poets for Poetry Stacked<\/a>, a semi-regular poetry reading series held in the 6th floor east stacks of the Walter C. Langsam Library<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the next event,\u00a0scheduled for Wednesday, March 6 at 4:30pm<\/strong>, three poets will read their original work:<\/p>\n\n\n

John Philip Drury<\/strong> is the author of five books of poetry, most recently The Teller\u2019s Cage: Poems and Imaginary Movies<\/em>, which just came out from Able Muse Press. After teaching at the University of Cincinnati for thirty-seven years, he is now an emeritus professor and lives with his wife, fellow poet LaWanda Walters, in a hundred-year-old house on the edge of a wooded ravine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sara Moore Wagner<\/strong> is the author of three prize-winning full-length books of poetry, Lady Wing Shot<\/em>, winner of the 2023 Blue Lynx Prize (forthcoming in 2024), Swan Wife<\/em> (Cider Press Review<\/em> Editors Prize, 2022), and Hillbilly Madonna<\/em> (Driftwood Press<\/em> Manuscript Prize, 2022), and of two chapbooks, Tumbling After<\/em> (Red Bird<\/em>, 2022) and Hooked Through<\/em> (2017). She is a 2022 Ohio Arts Council Individual Excellence Award recipient, and the recipient of a 2019 Sustainable Arts Foundation award. She teaches Creative Writing part time at Northern Kentucky University, where she recently received their Excellence in Research, Scholarship, and Creative Activity award. Kristyn Garza<\/strong>, a chicana from the U.S.\/Mexico border, moved from her hometown of McAllen, Texas to Austin to pursue her bachelor’s degree in English Literature at St. Edward\u2019s University. She earned her MFA in Poetry at the University of Notre Dame where she obtained graduate certificates in Gender Studies and in Peace Studies, two areas of study that permeate much of her work. Kristyn’s work has been published or is forthcoming in AGNI, Poets.org, Tupelo Quarterly, Cream City Review, The McNeese Review, RHINO, SPECTRA, and others. Most recently, she was awarded the 2023 Academy of American Poets Billy Maich Award for her poem, “tattoo house”. Kristyn currently resides in Cincinnati, Ohio where she is studying in her first year of her PhD in Poetry at the University of Cincinnati.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This session of Poetry Stacked will feature College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) students who will each perform an interpretive dance of one of the poet\u2019s readings. The dancers are:  Anna Gracie Zamiska<\/strong>, Bryn Cintr\u00f3n and Katherine Kraal.<\/strong>  <\/p>\n\n\n
