The event marked the 25th year of UC Libraries participating in Edible Books &#8212; and it was a momentous occasion!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\" src=\"https:\/\/libapps.libraries.uc.edu\/liblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/yarn-1200x675.jpg\" alt=\"extra yarn edible book\" class=\"wp-image-53615\" srcset=\"https:\/\/libapps.libraries.uc.edu\/liblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/yarn-1200x675.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/libapps.libraries.uc.edu\/liblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/yarn-850x478.jpg 850w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Best Student Entry &#8211; Ellie Alfieri, Extra Yarn<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>This year, saw <strong>an impressive 24 entries<\/strong> from students, librarians and staff, along with family, friends and retirees. There are few restrictions in creating an edible book \u2013 namely that the creation be edible and have something to do with a book. Today\u2019s entries covered all genres \u2013 from fiction to non-fiction, animals, food, classics, contemporary titles and more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Contemporary fiction <em>Seared on the Heart<\/em>, <em>The Song of Achilles<\/em>, <em>Holes, The Names, Intermezzo<\/em>, along with classics <em>Frankenstein<\/em> and <em>The Tell-Tale Heart<\/em> were well represented. Non-fiction titles <em>Feeding Ghosts, The Hidden Lives of Trees<\/em> and <em>Dirt: The Scoop on Soil<\/em> were sure to educate and delight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text is-stacked-on-mobile\"><figure class=\"wp-block-media-text__media\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1848\" height=\"1794\" src=\"https:\/\/libapps.libraries.uc.edu\/liblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/hats.jpg\" alt=\"And the winners are&#8230;results of the 2026 International Edible Books Festival\" class=\"wp-image-53617 size-full\" srcset=\"https:\/\/libapps.libraries.uc.edu\/liblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/hats.jpg 1848w, https:\/\/libapps.libraries.uc.edu\/liblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/hats-145x141.jpg 145w, https:\/\/libapps.libraries.uc.edu\/liblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/hats-768x746.jpg 768w, https:\/\/libapps.libraries.uc.edu\/liblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/hats-1536x1491.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/libapps.libraries.uc.edu\/liblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/hats-309x300.jpg 309w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1848px) 100vw, 1848px\" \/><\/figure><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<p><br \/><br \/>Numerous children\u2019s books made people smile with <em>The Hundred Dresses<\/em>, <em>One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish<\/em>, <em>Do You Have a Hat?<\/em>, <em>Great Sharky Shark<\/em>, <em>Extra Yarn<\/em> and <em>The Day the Crayons Quit<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Food-themed titles <em>I am Grateful for Chicken Pot Pie (which was a virtual entry)<\/em>, <em>Cakes and Ale<\/em>, <em>Triceramisu<\/em> and <em>Amaze! Rocky Road Cookies<\/em> were delicious.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>This year also saw two sets of identical entries &#8212; the fan-favorite <em>Heated Rivalry<\/em> and the popular book about to be a film <em>Remarkably Bright Creatures<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to promoting the reading of books, we also use this event to promote and \u201cjudge\u201d the creativity of our colleagues and friends in creating edible books. Thank you to the two esteemed judges: Lindsay Taylor, assessment and evaluation analyst, and DAAP Library student worker Mia Getter.
