{"id":54045,"date":"2026-08-10T10:07:00","date_gmt":"2026-08-10T14:07:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/libapps.libraries.uc.edu\/liblog\/?p=54045"},"modified":"2026-08-10T09:11:02","modified_gmt":"2026-08-10T13:11:02","slug":"changes-to-ohiolinks-2026-open-access-publishing-support-for-wiley-journals","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/libapps.libraries.uc.edu\/liblog\/2026\/08\/changes-to-ohiolinks-2026-open-access-publishing-support-for-wiley-journals\/","title":{"rendered":"Changes to OhioLINK\u2019s 2026 Open Access Publishing support for Wiley Journals"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As previously announced, OhioLINK\u2019s Wiley Open Access (OA) publishing agreement, which allows participating institutions to support open access publishing by issuing fee waivers for a limited number of article processing charges (APCs), is expected to reach its annual cap in 2026<strong>.<\/strong> <strong>The last day to request APC coverage for hybrid journals will be Thursday, August 20<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What this means for UC authors publishing in Wiley journals:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/authorservices.wiley.com\/asset\/Wiley-Journal-APCs-Open-Access.xlsx\"><strong>Fully OA journals<\/strong><\/a>(no subscription access option)<strong>:<\/strong> Beginning <strong>July 1, new requests for APC coverage at submission will <u>not<\/u> be approved<\/strong>. This APC coverage denial does not affect the editorial review process. Authors without coverage are responsible for funding APCs themselves following editorial acceptance in fully OA journals.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><u>H<\/u><\/strong><a href=\"http:\/\/authorservices.wiley.com\/asset\/Wiley-Journal-APCs-OnlineOpen.xlsx\"><strong>ybrid journals<\/strong><\/a> (publish open and subscription access articles)<strong>:<\/strong> <strong>The last day to request APC coverage for hybrid journals will be Thursday, August 20. <\/strong>Once limits are reached, authors without coverage may publish under subscription access without an APC or may pay the APC themselves (with a 10% discount) to publish open access.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Alternatively, authors may consider submitting their work to a journal that is covered by a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ohiolink.edu\/content\/open_access_authors\">different OhioLINK agreement<\/a>.
