{"id":6758,"date":"2011-04-06T13:59:43","date_gmt":"2011-04-06T17:59:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.libraries.uc.edu\/liblog\/?p=6758"},"modified":"2011-04-06T13:59:43","modified_gmt":"2011-04-06T17:59:43","slug":"artist-justin-green","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/libapps.libraries.uc.edu\/liblog\/2011\/04\/artist-justin-green\/","title":{"rendered":"Artist Justin Green"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>By Kevin Grace<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/libapps.libraries.uc.edu\/liblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/death_2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-6764\" style=\"margin: 6px\" src=\"https:\/\/libapps.libraries.uc.edu\/liblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/death_2.jpg\" alt=\"Artist Justin Green\" width=\"262\" height=\"334\" \/><\/a>In the past few weeks, the Archives &amp; Rare Books Library has had some interesting visits from Justin Green, one of the pioneers of underground comics in the 1960s and 1970s.\u00a0 Green is probably best known for his groundbreaking and controversial graphic novel, <em>Binky Brown Meets the Holy Virgin Mary,<\/em> originally published in 1972 and re-issued in 2009 by McSweeney\u2019s Books, one of the great innovative publishers in America.\u00a0 In 2003, Last Gasp Press of San Francisco issued Justin\u2019s incredible <em>Musical Legends <\/em>material that was first published in <em>Pulse!
