Search with Summon: The New Library Search Tool<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"Summon<\/p>\n

The RWC Library has added a powerful new search tool,\u00a0Summon<\/a>, to our website. From a single search box located prominently on the\u00a0homepage<\/a>, Summon provides easy and fast discovery of relevant information from the UC Libraries collections on any topic. It is the place to start research in journal and newspaper articles, books, government documents, maps, music recordings, videos, digital collections, and more.\u00a0Summon is still growing and in development as features continue to improve and content is added regularly. User feedback is welcomed and can be sent\u00a0via an online form<\/a>.\u00a0More information about Summon is available online<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Library Instruction Services<\/strong>
\n<\/strong><\/p>\n

The RWC Library offers a variety of library instruction services to meet the need of your classes, curriculum, and assignments.\u00a0\u00a0Click\u00a0here<\/a> for a sampling of our teaching plans to find out what we can do in the classroom.\u00a0Be sure to schedule a library instruction session using the online\u00a0Instruction Request Form<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Blackboard Librarian
\n<\/strong><\/p>\n

This service\u00a0provides direct access to a librarian and curricular support for students.\u00a0 Contact your\u00a0library liaison<\/a> about creating a Library Research content area in your course which can include helpful research tips, links to course-specific resources, and research guides.\u00a0Click\u00a0here<\/a> for a sampling\u00a0to find out what we can do in Blackboard.<\/p>\n

Class Assignments
\n<\/strong><\/p>\n

With spring classes underway, the RWC librarians ask that faculty provide copies of class research assignments to your\u00a0library liaison<\/a>. We can provide more effective research assistance when we understand the goals of the assignment and any preferred resources (free websites, library subscription databases, etc). RWC librarians are also\u00a0available to collaborate in the development or review of any library research assignments.\u00a0Refer to\u00a0Creating Effective Library Assignments<\/a> for tips and suggestions.<\/p>\n

New Scholarship of Teaching and\u00a0 Learning (SoTL) Guide
\n<\/strong><\/p>\n

The RWC Library has created a new online research guide for\u00a0faculty interested in the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL).\u00a0 This online\u00a0guide<\/a> provides direct access to databases, books, journals, tests and measurements, and websites along with information about the Library\u2019s Learning & Teaching Collection.<\/p>\n

Purchase Request Form
\n<\/strong><\/p>\n

All members of the RWC community are encouraged to recommend books, media or journals for purchase by the Library.\u00a0 To submit a request, please complete the online\u00a0Library Purchase Request Form<\/a> and email it to your\u00a0library liaison<\/a>.\u00a0 This form is located on the Library’s\u00a0Collections Page<\/a> which also includes the\u00a0Collection Development Policy<\/a>.<\/p>\n

RWC Committee Minutes<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Library posts RWC committee minutes, annual committee reports, the college-wide strategic plans and the faculty and staff handbooks on the\u00a0RWC Committee & Faculty Committee Minutes, Bylaws Changes & Reports<\/a> web page.\u00a0 Library staff collect the minutes distributed to the College and post them by the end of each month.\u00a0 Questions concerning content should be directed to the appropriate committee chair.\u00a0 For questions concerning the posting process please contact Stephena Harmony by\u00a0email<\/a> or phone 513-936-1547.<\/p>\n

Deadlines for Summer Quarter Reserves<\/strong><\/p>\n

Summer quarter will be here before we know it. In anticipation of this, please submit the items that you would like placed on\u00a0Traditional Reserve<\/strong> by\u00a0Thursday, June 9, 2011<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Those of you who designated traditional reserve items for\u00a0Spring quarter only<\/strong>; these items will be removed and returned to you as per your request. If you would like to keep items on Reserve please contact Tammy Manger at 936-1542 or\u00a0tamra.manger@uc.edu<\/a> by\u00a0June 9th.<\/p>\n

Faculty that have\u00a0Blackboard E-Reserve<\/strong> articles designated for\u00a0Spring quarter only<\/strong>: these items will be removed when your Blackboard course ends. Please do not copy over any articles to the next quarter\u00a0as this will cause a block for future articles to be posted.<\/p>\n

Reminder: Don’t forget to get those\u00a0Summer quarter items submitted as soon as possible or by\u00a0June 9th<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
