Invite to Research

This exhibit is a brief introduction to a unique group of materials within a major untapped collection within the University Archives of the University of Cincinnati.   The records of the Ohio Mechanics Institute form a major collection in UC's Archives & Rare Books Department.   This comprehensive body of material includes extensive documentation of the exhibitions 1838-1859 and 1870-1888 in addition to the posters featured in this exhibit.   It is an important resource for information on individuals, companies and industrial developments in many areas including the fine arts.   Curriculum materials include extensive documentation (including photographs) of courses and individuals involved in programs such as art, lithography and printing.   Research in this collection would be fruitful and is invited.
