Harrison Health Sciences Library, was awarded a Maendeleo Award, Promotion Award for his advancement in the academy.<\/p>\n<p><strong>June Taylor-Slaughter<\/strong>, technical processing and e-reserves manager in the Geology-Mathematics-Physics Library, was named the 2018 recipient of the Marilyn Kershaw Legacy Award for Courage and Perseverance (pictured right).<\/p>\n<p>Congratulations, Don and June!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Presentations<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong>Hong Cheng<\/strong>, global services librarian, participated in a panel discussion at the 18<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0Distance Library Service Conference in San Antonio, TX. April 13, 2018 called \u201cService Excellence in Global Librarianship: Perspectives and Trends.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Michael Duckworth<\/strong>, acquisitions editor for the University of Cincinnati Press, participated in the AU Presses Acquisitions Editorial Committee-sponsored Hangout, Art of Acquisitions: Translations on March 30, 2018. The hangout covered a broad range of topics related to different types of translations\u2014from the more nuts-and-bolts issues to the higher order concerns related to how these works factor into the overall mission and lists of university presses. The panelists addressed how translations differ from traditional projects in terms of the review and board processes.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ben Kline, <\/strong>assistant director of Circulation Services in the Walter C. Langsam Library, was a member of the Programming Committee for the Access Services Conference, Atlanta GA, November, 2017.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ben Kline, <\/strong>assistant director of Circulation Services in the Walter C. Langsam Library, was a featured speaker for the 2017 USA Today series \u201cI Am an American\u201d \u2013 nationwide webcast in July 2017.<\/p>\n<p>In February, <strong>Amy Koshoffer<\/strong>, science informationist in the Geology-Mathematics-Physics Library, presented along with several colleagues \u201cGiving datasets context, a comparison study of institutional repositories that apply varying degrees of curation\u201d at the International Digital Curation Conference in Barcelona, Spain.<\/p>\n<p>From Jan to April, 2018, <strong>Amy Koshoffer<\/strong>, science informationist in the Geology-Mathematics-Physics Library, participated in the National Training Office\/National Library of Medicine \u2013Biomedical and Health Research Data Management for Librarians course as a mentor for four students in the course. Harrison Health Sciences Library, titled: <u>Introducing High School Students to the Library Profession<\/u>.\u00a0 It detailed their work with three DePaul Christo Rey students over the last three school years, including the type of work they performed, and the outcomes for them, the library and potentially the field of library science.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Liz Scarpelli<\/strong>, director of the University of Cincinnati Press, presented at the Library Publisher Forum in Minnesota on Extending and Measuring Impact along with colleagues Jason Colman, director, Michigan Publishing Services, University of Michigan Library; and John W. Warren, director, George Mason University Press\/Mason Publishing.<\/p>\n<p>Three University of Cincinnati librarians, <strong>Olga Hart<\/strong> (Walter C. Langsam Library), <strong>Emily Kean<\/strong> (Donald C. Harrison Health Sciences Library) and <strong>Lauren Wahman<\/strong> (UC Blue Ash College Library), attended the 46<sup>th<\/sup> Annual LOEX conference in Houston, TX from May 3-5, 2018.\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.loex.org\/about.php\">LOEX<\/a><u>, <\/u>a clearinghouse for library instruction and information literacy information, provides the opportunity to learn from colleagues and explore trends and issues. This year\u2019s conference was themed\u00a0 \u201cNew Frontiers: Exploring and Innovating in Uncharted Territory\u201d and offered a broad variety of instruction-focused sessions including innovative approaches to library orientation, programs helping students launch into successful careers, developing communities of practice and assessment redesign. Recurring themes included eLearning, gaming and gamification and combating misinformation. At the conference, <strong>Emily Kean<\/strong> presented \u201cWhen the Stars Align: Successful Examples of Interprofessional Collaboration for eLearning and Instruction from a Health Sciences Library.\u201d The presentation discussed two initiatives with colleagues <strong>Don Jason<\/strong> and <strong>Edith Starbuck<\/strong> of the Donald C. Harrison Health Sciences Library. Grant<\/strong>, research informationist.<\/p>\n<p>The Health Sciences Library purchased a MakerBot Replicator 3D Printer in the fall of 2015. A 3D Printing Pilot was developed to determine potential usage, associated costs, staffing requirements and the feasibility of a self-sustaining (i.e. cost recovery) service based in the library.<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Presentation: Lightning Talks 3<br \/>\n<\/strong>Name of presenter(s): <strong>Tiffany J. Grant, research informationist<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Data analysis is often a service that researchers outsource due to lack of time, knowledge or available tools. They sought to develop a cost-effective, low maintenance statistical support service that would educate researchers on statistical software and programming language tools and provide minor data analyses for research projects. They submitted a job description to find knowledgeable and motivated university graduate students to tutor peers, faculty and staff on the programming languages R and Python and the statistical programs SAS and SPSS. Two graduate students were selected to perform the duties of the newly established program in the Health Sciences Library.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Poster: \u00a0<\/strong>Librarians Co-Develop and Team Teach Evidence Based Practice (EBP) Workshops with Hospital EBP Council<br \/>\n<strong>Name of presenter(s): Don P.
