Deshon and Karl J. Schlachter Library for Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning (DAAP) have re-opened to users, joining the other library locations previously opened. Winkler Center for the History of the Health Professions and the Cecil Striker Society for the History of Medicine, held the 3rd lecture in the Cecil Striker Webinar series on Thursday, May 6 <em>\u201cOff the Shelf and into the Lab: Medical History, Preservation and the University of Cincinnati Libraries\u2019 Adopt-A-Book Program.\u201d <\/em>The event demonstrated how the work of the Preservation Lab protects Winkler Center collections and how those interested can support their work through the Libraries\u2019 <a href=\"https:\/\/libapps.libraries.uc.edu\/adoptabook\/tobeadopted.php?page=1&amp;category=--ALL--&amp;library=Henry%20R.%20Winkler%20Center%20for%20the%20History%20of%20the%20Health%20Professions&amp;title=\">Adopt-a-Book<\/a> program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-text-color has-background has-vivid-red-background-color has-vivid-red-color\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a href=\"https:\/\/libapps.libraries.uc.edu\/liblog\/2021\/04\/and-the-winners-are-results-of-the-2021-uc-libraries-international-edible-books-festival\/\">And the winners are\u2026Results of the 2021 UC Libraries International Edible Books Festival<\/a><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>April 2021<\/strong> &#8211; The University of Cincinnati Libraries celebrated the annual International Edible Books Festival on April 5-9, 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A record 31 edible books were created and featured throughout the week on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/events\/865456830696964\/\">Libraries Facebook page<\/a>, as well as on <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/uclibraries\">Twitter<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/uc_libraries\/\">Instagram<\/a>. Submitted entries included such edible titles as \u201cCoffee,\u201d \u201cLuLu\u2019s Giraffe Bakery,\u201d and \u201cDonut Feed the Squirrels.\u201d Best sellers \u201cLord of the Rings,\u201d \u201cThe Handmaid\u2019s Tale,\u201d \u201cCatch-22,\u201d \u201cSuper Fudge\u201d and \u201cThe Picture of Dorian Gray\u201d were represented along with children\u2019s books like \u201cJolly Postman,\u201d \u201cHair Love,\u201d \u201cRainbow Fish,\u201d \u201cLittle Blue Truck Leads the Way\u201d and \u201cMadeline,\u201d among other literary greats.
