Shortly upon my arrival at the University of Cincinnati Libraries, we began a participatory and data-informed process to draft a Strategic Plan. Through town halls, retreats, info sessions, surveys, discussions and debate we examined what is going well in the Libraries along with what opportunities exist for improvement and growth. This spring we embarked on an exercise to begin to determine and articulate our Values<\/a>. We asked ourselves what are our organization\u2019s core beliefs that will motivate our work and guide our efforts. How we work together will guarantee success of the plan.<\/p>\n<\/div>

In developing our plan, we also concentrated on our role within the university and greater community. The University of Cincinnati\u2019s NEXT Lives Here Strategic Directions focus on the core areas of Academic Excellence, Urban Impact and the Innovation Agenda in order to engage people and ideas – and to transform the world. The University of Cincinnati Libraries is key to creating what\u2019s NEXT.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The result of this work is the University of Cincinnati Libraries Strategic Plan, 2024-2027<\/a>. With the launch of our plan we are increasing our impact by focusing on four Strategic Directions<\/a>: Enrich our Collections, Expand Our Impact, Strengthen Our Organization and Support Our Students<\/strong>. Accomplishing the goals within the strategic directions will ensure that we achieve our mission to \u201cempower discovery, stimulate learning and inspire the creation of knowledge by connecting students, faculty, researchers and scholars to dynamic data, information and resources.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Strategic Plan builds upon the success of UC Libraries and responds to the rapidly changing landscape of higher education, as well as the increasingly diverse needs of our students, faculty and researchers. It positions UC Libraries for the future, as we build a stronger foundation and achieve our shared vision to be the intellectual center of campus life, a partner within the expanding research and innovation agenda and a catalyst for engaging the greater community.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

This issue of Source<\/a> features the Strategic Plan and includes articles that demonstrate how we\u2019re already working to achieve our Strategic Directions. Read future issues of Source to learn how we\u2019re accomplishing our goals and moving the Libraries forward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
