This past week the preservation lab hosted 3 classes with 3rd year fashion design majors.
\nThe goal of the sessions were to familiarize the students with the basic parts of the book, explore different types of enclosures, and demonstrate how these simple structures can be “tweaked” to produce a wide range of compelling forms.

\nThe desired outcome is that the students will extend the creativity they exhibit in their portfolio work, primarily single-sheet drawings, by fashioning custom enclosures and\/or bound structures to display their work.\u00a0 Make the whole package memorable, exciting, and fun to employers and peers!

Holly shows some inspirational enclosures created by Patrick Schmude, senior conservation technician.<\/p><\/div>
\nTo encourage the students, the staff brought in personal works that they had created in their own homes.\u00a0 You can do this and you can do it at home was the mantra.\u00a0 We hope to have more opportunities in the future to connect with students — beyond our fabulous student assistants of course!
