{"id":92,"date":"2013-04-23T20:54:05","date_gmt":"2013-04-23T20:54:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/libapps.libraries.uc.edu\/thepreservationlab\/?p=92"},"modified":"2013-04-23T20:54:05","modified_gmt":"2013-04-23T20:54:05","slug":"a-massive-and-impressive-contraption","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/libapps.libraries.uc.edu\/thepreservationlab\/2013\/04\/a-massive-and-impressive-contraption","title":{"rendered":"&#8230;a massive and impressive contraption"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>One of the (many) great things about our collaboration, and the State Library of Ohio grant that funded our collaborative lab, was being able to purchase new equipment and supplies.\u00a0 With grant funds, the lab purchased an additional board shear, a humidification\/suction table, a ductless fume-hood, additional map cases to store paper and many other wonderful things.\u00a0 But there were certain unique and very specific items that we couldn\u2019t find through outside vendor s, and that\u2019s when UC\u2019s talented group of carpenters came to our aid.\u00a0 The UC carpenters were essential when it came to renovating our existing lab, adding a second bench area for the conservator and two conservation technicians, and a second sink by the new work benches.\u00a0 But one of the most massive and impressive contraptions they constructed was multi-compartment structure to hold binders board, corrugated board, foam, and other various odds and ends.\u00a0 It\u2019s mammoth, sturdy and expertly crafted.\u00a0 And more importantly offers an excellent storage solution to some of the new supplies we were ordering.<br \/>\nYet, after the first year of our new created collaborative lab there was still one area where we still need some organization help\u2026bookcloth and buckram storage.\u00a0 For ages we had been storing our bookcloth and buckram in an oversized laminate bin.<br \/>\n<div id=\"attachment_97\" style=\"width: 793px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/libapps.libraries.uc.edu\/thepreservationlab\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/Imagine-this...1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-97\" class=\"size-full wp-image-97\" alt=\"Imagine this but jammed full of three times the cloth and buckram. \" src=\"https:\/\/libapps.libraries.uc.edu\/thepreservationlab\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/Imagine-this...1.jpg\" width=\"783\" height=\"587\" srcset=\"https:\/\/libapps.libraries.uc.edu\/thepreservationlab\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/Imagine-this...1.jpg 783w, https:\/\/libapps.libraries.uc.edu\/thepreservationlab\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/Imagine-this...1-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/libapps.libraries.uc.edu\/thepreservationlab\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/Imagine-this...1-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/libapps.libraries.uc.edu\/thepreservationlab\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/Imagine-this...1-624x468.jpg 624w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 783px) 100vw, 783px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-97\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Imagine this but jammed full of three times the cloth and buckram.<\/p><\/div><br \/>\n<!--more--><br \/>\nThis was not ideal for several reasons;
