About

The Collection

Text for the Paoletta online collection information and exhibit was taken from the text of a physical exhibit produced by Mark Palkovic and Anna Heran.

The Paoletta Collection was chosen by University Libraries, University of Cincinnati, as the representative material for its 3 millionth volume in 2004. Its significance is manifold for the University. Pietro Floridia was a faculty member of the College of Music of Cincinnati, now a part of UC as part of the College-Conservatory of Music. The industrial expositions were closely tied to the Ohio Mechanics Institute, College of Applied Sciences, which is also now a part of the UC family. Additionally, the Archives & Rare Books Library collects a wide array of materials documenting the growth and development of the urban environment, with Cincinnati as a focal point. The collection is housed in Archives & Rare Books and is available for scholarly research.

Our thanks go to Tom White, Monographs Department, University Libraries, who so graciously provided historical background materials as well as many of the images and supplemental materials for the collection and the exhibit.
