National African American Read-In Titles

book display

Visit the RWC Library to peruse and borrow related Read-In titles.

The RWC Library has created a list of Selected “Must Read” Books by African American Authors (recommended by Black Caucus Members of the National Council of Teachers of English, and compiled by Sandra E. Gibbs) available via UC Libraries. The display was created in conjunction with Raymond Walters College’s National African American Read-In event scheduled for February 21, 2011 from 11:30 am – 1:30 pm.

Volunteers needed!

Students, faculty and staff are encouraged to participate in this exciting event by volunteering to read aloud a short passage (2-3 minutes or less) by an African American author. Volunteer readers may choose a selection from a variety of readings compiled by the event committee or choose your own short reading by a favorite African American author. A short list of reader instructions will be sent out once volunteers have been determined. You may choose a reading by stopping by the Writing Center in Muntz 112I (745-5733).  Materials are also available in the RWC Library and can be found on display in the Reference section.
