Carol Fried “: The wrappers are made from pulverized rice and water, formed into either a square or round shape and dried. Painting on them with the food gels was a little tricky. To make them into vegetable rolls I had to soak the wrapper, which Is hard, brittle and inflexible, in hot water until it softens significantly. If the water is too hot then the wrapper dissolves into a gelatinous goo. Once the wrapper has softened to the state that is malleable the vegetables which have been thinly sliced are layered on the rice wrapper.”
