ames Stephens was an Irish novelist and poet.    Stephens was inclined to socialism and the Irish language.  He produced many retellings of Irish myths and fairy tales.  Stephens began his career as a poet with the name “AE.”  James Joyce asked him for assistance in finishing Finnegan’s Wake, but his help was not needed as Joyce finished the work on his own.  Stephens later became a spokesman on the BBC.
