Frank O’Connor was an Irish writer of over 150 works, best known for his short stories and memoirs. The Frank O’Connor International Short Story Award is named in his honor. He became a member of the board of directors of the Abbey Theatre in Dublin. In 1937 he became managing director of the Abbey.
