Oscar Wilde was an Irish writer and poet.  His most known literary work is The Picture of Dorian Gray, and his best known play is The Importance of Being Earnest.  He is best known for his biting wit, flamboyant dress, and lovely conversation.  Wilde became one of the best known personalities of his day.
