The annual Authors, Editors and Composers reception and program was held Tuesday, April 9, in the Russell C. Myers Alumni Center. At the event, UC Libraries honored 321 faculty members and their 481 creative and scholarly works published in the year 2012. Participating faculty members represented every UC college plus the Division of Professional Practice, and the Libraries.
The submitted publications ranged in medium as well as content. There were articles, books, chapters, edited journals, musical scores, artwork, poetry, works of fiction, CDs, DVDs, photography and drone aircraft. There were publications that enlighten and inform, some that inspire and motivate, and others that entertain. While some presented answers to life’s probing questions, others examined the past and explored the future. The publications spanned four languages: English, Spanish, German, and French.
At the event, three UC faculty discussed their published works as part of the program:
- Kelly Cohen, associate professor of aerospace engineering and engineering mechanics in the College of Engineering and Applied Science – Cohen shared insights into his work on SIERRA (Surveillance for Intelligent Emergency Response Robotic Aircraft) – Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) for enhancement of Forest Fire-Fighting. http://www.uc.edu/profiles/profile.asp?id=16092.Kristin Kalsem, professor of law, College of Law – Kalsem discussed her book In Contempt: Nineteenth-Century Women, Law, and Literature. http://www.law.uc.edu/faculty-staff/faculty/kristin-kalsem.Mary Sue Morrow, professor of musicology, College-Conservatory of Music – Morrow discussed her edited volume The Symphonic Repertoire: The Eighteenth-Century Symphony.
