During the month of October the University of Cincinnati Libraries join other libraries nationwide in celebrating National Information Literacy Awareness Month.
Information literacy is a very important life-learning skill. It involves finding, evaluating, interpreting, managing, and using information to answer questions and develop new ones; and creating new knowledge through ethical participation in communities of learning, scholarship, and practice.
The University of Cincinnati Libraries will celebrate National Information Literacy Awareness Month by offering our students an opportunity to demonstrate their research and critical thinking skills and win prizes by participating in an online contest.
Each day, October 20th through 24th a question will be posted on the UC Libraries blog. Students can submit their answer to the research question on the blog via an online form.
Contest Rules:
- Participants must submit the answers, list the site(s) and techniques they used to find the answers, their name, and email address.
- Online responses must be submitted by 11 PM.
- Only those who submitted complete and correct answers will be eligible for the prize drawing.
- Participants who submit complete and correct answers to 3 or more daily challenges will be eligible for additional prizes. (This is an update of the original requirement of 5 correct submissions).
- Participants may NOT use reference services to get the answers, but are welcome to use library tutorials and guides.
Prizes will be drawn daily.
Daily challenge prize: a UC Libraries T-shirt.
Additional prizes: surprise!
