The Savoy (1896)
Edited by Arthur Symons, the Savoy was a late 19th century literary and art journal that emphasized Art Nouveau design and sensibilities. Aubrey Beardsley was one of its prominent artists, and as the cover of this issue shows, the combination of a bright blue with gold artwork gave the bound journals an appearance of sophistication and richness. In this regard, it corresponds with the Shakespeare volume in this exhibit.
