Hours of the Virgin (15th century)
This book of hours, created in Limoges, France around 1475 shows illuminated miniatures on vellum pages. The blue of the Virgin Mary’s robe is highlighted in gold and provides an interpretation of her as pure, aristocratic, and endowed with a deep faith in the word of God. The richness of the blue also presents Mary with a traditional view of her as a link between earthly existence and heavenly salvation.
