Katib Khosru wa Shirin (The loves of Khosru and Shirin)

In this undated Persian manuscript, the tale is told by poet Nizami Ganjavi (1141–1209) of the romance between Khosru and Shirin, and their adventures in finding each other to join their lives together.  The use of blue connotes trustworthiness and commitment, and the particular vibrancy seen here is used to demonstrate the exhilaration of love.
