Les Fleurs Animées (1847)
Les Fleurs Animées, published in 1847, combines nature and fashion by turning women’s gowns into flowers. The book was illustrated by Parisian artist, J. J. Grandville. This was his last published work.
Bleuet et Coquelicot translates to “cornflower and poppy,” the names of the flowers represented in the image below. The blue and red used together provide contrast that is appealing to the human eye.
